The view is just the beginning. From Restaurants, Bars, new boardwalks and recreational facilities, all will be revealed in 2018*, starting with a not-to-be-missed event! Here are the basics:
VISITOR & INTERPRETATION CENTRE*
Free admission for all, our proposed Visitor & Interpretation Centre will be open the same long hours as our cableway.
Designed and located to be the main meeting point for tour groups, school excursions and families, this space will offer level access to a tour booking desk, toilets & parenting rooms as well as locker hire for recreational mountain users.
Here visitors can discover the geological events that shaped the mountain, the indigenous stories and places of cultural significance, the colonial resources it offered, as well as the 20th Century bids to improve access and conservation.
Costed into our proposal is a sympathetic replacement of the existing shelter with a larger indoor scenic viewing space.
Featuring wrap-around glazing, an elevated viewing platform, seating, telescopes and signage, this new facility will be warm, experiential and won't howl in high wind or excessively echo.
- And with our recently successful bid to adjust the zoning boundary, we can ensure this won't detract from the skyline.
NOTE: This facility will only be built if Hobart City Council agree to the removal of their existing shelter.
NEW BOARDWALKS & LOOKOUTS*
Also costed into our proposal is the construction of non-slip, compliant grade boardwalks that ensure all visitors with prams, wheelchairs and mobility scooters can enjoy the best views.
Our 'no-step' boardwalks will meander among some of the summit's most dense displays of alpine native vegetation, stretching from the Centre to the existing carpark.
NOTE: Removal of the existing boardwalks is optional.
Whilst the overall pinnacle centre will be semi-buried, the front-fringe of the rooftop will provide a plethora of scenic vantage points to maximise accessibility and minimise overcrowding.
- New, enclosed 24/7 accessible emergency shelter,
- New toilets and parenting rooms,
- Drink fountain
- Wind-sheltered seating
- Park rangers office/storage,
- Rubbish & recycling bins,
- CCTV and overnight security.
- plus more to be revealed!
