August 2026: Stage 3 Action Plan is released following 9,000 public submissions during Stage 2 in 2025.

May 2024: MWCC welcomes the announcement of a ‘comprehensive, holistic and strategic review of the Mountain’ by the new State Government.

February 28, 2023: Premier of Tasmania Jeremy Rockliff uses his State of the State address to State Parliament to commit his government to find a pathway to make this project happen.

APPEAL HEARING

November 2022: Passing 62 out of 76 planning scheme criteria, TASCAT upheld 14 grounds of refusal over just 6 criteria. Australia’s best environmental planning lawyers described the mountain’s planning scheme as “contradictory, ambiguous & fundamentally flawed” to implement. They deemed the WPMP “not fit for purpose” and failed to measure significant improvements offered by our proposal. All positive impacts to be induced by our project were ignored.

AUTHORITY GRANTED

August 2021: DA voted upon.

June 2019: DA submitted. HCC consume 2 years requesting further information.

Dec 2017 - March 2019: MWCC received two Authorities to Enter from the Tasmanian State Government, to allow investigative works both inside and outside Wellington Park.

This allowed our project design team to complete the design process and start the statutory approval process.
