Linkway to the Cafe

Rising over the Organ Pipes, winter morning

How many people can it carry per hour?

At regular 15-minute departures, the cableway is expected to carry between 18 and 23 people per trip. In the case of emergency or large events, the system speed can be increased to carry 660 people per hour in each direction.

Further Detail:

Each cabin has a weight and space capacity of up to 80 passengers, if required. The cabins move together, with one going up while the other comes down, so arriving and departing visitors are served throughout the day at four departures per hour.

The large cabins allow school groups and families to stay together and provide space for people with mobility aids. They also support the movement of equipment and supplies. Capacity describes the room available on the service; it lets the operation accommodate busy periods without needing a continuous line of smaller cabins across the mountain.
